Allison Brooks Janney, an American actress, was born in 1959. Her performances on screen and the stage have been highly praised throughout her long career. Janney is the recipient of many accolades. They include the Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award and many others. Also, she received seven Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition, she was nominated for two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston but was raised in Dayton (Ohio). Following her graduation in Kenyon College, she received a full scholarship at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Janney was first seen on TV at the age of 1999. She appeared as C. J. Cregg as part of NBC's politic drama The West Wing from 1999-2006 which earned her the award for four Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney won The Primetime Emmy Award for 2014 Outstanding Guest actress in an Drama Series, after her performance in the role of Margaret Scully on the Showtime series Masters of Sex. Janney received nominations several times in the Primetime Emmy Awards and twice received the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress Comedy Series.
